Exhibition “metamorphosis of the book 2.0″ in Barcelona
From February 18 to March 7 Iris Tonies exhibits the work ‘Logbook’ in Artesania Catalunya in Barcelona (Banys Nous 11). She takes part in the group exhibition “metamorphosis of the book 2.0″, organized by the FAD .

During a long sea journey of her beloved Iris Tonies made Logbook, a report of her longing and sorrow. “It took so long and I wanted to be there so bad… I started making a diary, because I wanted to make the time tangible. Thus I travelled along in my images.”
Logbook is a waterfall of thoughts and ideas that pours down fierce and uncontrolled.
DRAP ART 09 at the CCCB in Barcelona
Friday 18 december dutch artist Iris Tonies joins DRAP ART 09 in the CCCB in Barcelona. Her ‘nomadic installation’ is made of 131.000 ice-lolly sticks glued together on fabric. The huge installation is shown in the entrance hall until 10 January. DRAP ART is the anual international festival for recycled art.
Nomadic installation
About 131.000 blue ice-lolly sticks are used to make ‘nomadic installation’ (7,5 X 2,5 X 2,5 [m]). Iris Tonies “By gluing the sticks for weeks in a kind of trance, I transform the in itself worthless material to aesthetic shapes.” The sticks are sort of tumbled on each other in a natural way, like in a pleated skirt. The result is an organic, female shape that ‘grows from the building’. “The massive quantities make you forget they are actually ice-lolly sticks. They create a rhythm, like drops in a wave or swell, that flushes through the space.”
